Remember last week when I was talking about my son’s fever on the evening of July 3rd? Yep well he really wasn’t that sick this weekend. We even got to play outside a little bit. BUT when we went to sleep last night, he started screaming and hollering about his left ear. He would just hold it and scream and cry but this is my little drama monster so I put him some drops, gave him some tylenol and put him to bed. No luck….he cried ALL night long (which is worse than talking!) so today I took him to the doctor. Our doctor says that T has the worst ear infection he has ever seen. Nice….. oh yeah and he’s wheezing a lot so the doctor put him on his Pulmicort for basically forever twice a day. I really dislike that nebulizer and I so hoped we would outgrow the asthma although I kinda figured we would not. My 6 year old takes more meds than I do everyday. Poor baby!

How was your Friday? Good I hope. Our weekend should be busy with bar b cues and swimming to celebrate. Anyone visit a war memorial for the 4th of July? We went to a Vietnam Memorial Wall while on vacation but I had a really hard time explaining it to my 6 year old and ended up stopping. I mean how do you tell a six year old that these men gaves their lives for our country when he has no good concept of what death is and why did they have protect our country? Do I really want to get into the whole America has lots of enemies thing? I just don’t know so for now he knows they fought for our freedom but that’s about it. I’ll take suggestions if you have any.

Onto the layouts I promised, these are from last year’s vacation.  Our first stop was for one night in Galveston so that the kids could see a beach.  It was a terrible nasty day (cold in June no less and misting with dark dark clouds) but we went out anyways and were just about the only people on the beach.

Happy July 4th!!!! SO our little town celebrates Independence Day on the 3rd. Kinda backwards huh……Yep we celebrate July 4th….yes sir we have a HUGE celebration on the 3rd of July. lol…..anyways that’s how it is so…..last night we went to see the fireworks. We didn’t go to the celebration as we were setting up the new pool but we did hop in the burb to get there just in time to see the fireworks. Very nice display. It lasted for about 15 minutes with LOTS of large bursts. Beautiful fireworks!

This was the first time my littlest had seen a “show” of fireworks.  He was extremely impressed.  Here’s what we heard from the backseat!

“WOW!”  “Look MOM!!!”  “KEEE YAWWWWWW!”

Yea keeyaww…..I’m thinking whose child is he?!?!??!?!?!?  lol

Oh yeah and while I have you cornered….. lol…… how long does it take for these stinking pools to fill up!?!??!?!?!  Let’s see 5 hours last night, 1 hour this morning and VOILA, we are HALF FULL!!!  ummmmm…..yeah.

I have always said that my oldest will talk in his sleep the most right before he gets sick. I’m not sure that anyone really believes me but I still stick by my story. Here’s an example…….. two nights ago now he and I had this conversation about about 1 a.m.

“mom…….Mom……..MOM!!!!”
“huh? huh? What?”  I go to his room.
“MOM!”
“WHAT?!?!”
“You uh wanna play this game show with me?!?”
“No son go to sleep.”
Five minutes later…..
“mom……Mom……..(me snoring pretending to be back asleep
already)…MOM……MMMMMOOOOOOOO MMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!”
“WHAT SON!?!?!??!”
“Is Coco (the cat) in the house?  I think I saw her.”

Mind you we have these conversations with his eyes closed!!!  This literally went on ALL night and if I ignore him (or pretend to be sleeping) he YELLS until he wakes everyone up so for the sake of letting the others sleep, I play along ALL NIGHT!

And voila’, today, a fever, wheezing and a runny nose.  I’m telling you, “Momma knows best!”  And of course, no the doctor can’t see him today and no they don’t want to send out antibiotics without seeing him and no we will not be in tomorrow.  uhh…..o.k……..our 4th of July should be fun……so much for the pool…. =(

I think I’m going to clean today. Now I don’t mean regular old weekly house cleaning, I mean CLEANING – cleaning my hard drive, cleaning up our forums at SH, cleaning out my desk, cleaning things that have waited for a LONG LONG time to be clean. It’s time and I think I’m ready…..maybe…..I hope…..

Oh a good and different note we got a pool last night!!  Hubby has been bugging me for one just about all summer.  I however was NOT on board with the idea because of the upkeep, the cost, building it, etc.  However, he worked a really long overtime day (read EXTRA MONEY) on Sunday and convinced me that he had worked to pay for his pool.  How could I argue?  =)  Here’s an internet pic of what it’s supposed to look like.  My boys are very excited!!

Well we have another new addition to our family.  Some of you may remember about two months ago we adopted a puppy that needed a good home.  He is the most kind and gentle pup with our kids and we are glad we decided to get him.  This past week we adopted a kitty whose mommy abandoned her.  She is 5 weeks old and could probably have survived even without our help but we took her in anyways.  My hubby was excited! =P

Well I just finished a layout with Backyard Playground by Rachael (Creations by Rachael). Her kit is part of a huge collab that will be FREE and I think it comes out tomorrow!! I had so much fun playing with the pieces in this kit!!

I have been stumped for a while now on how to scrap for a girl!! With all boys to scrap I am having a tough tough time scrapping my childhood pics but I have a second layout complete and I think I can do this!! Here’s my latest creation from the kit Amethyst Butterfly by Carol Burns.

 

We have a new designer at Scraphead and I am so excited!!!  The new designer, Cassell, creates PSP scripts!!  PSP scripts are SO hard to find.  There are many PS scripts out there but so few PSP ones.  She’s got 3 great folded ribbon scripts already in the store so drop on by and check her out.

Do any of you take your children to the public library for story times during the summer??  What’s your “theme” for the summer??  Our theme in the state of Louisiana is “Be a star” which makes for some interesting programs.  We have lots of storytellers and “stars” from the various towns come by to visit with the kids at the library.

I saw a shirt out at the ballpark this past weekend that said, “Make love, not babies.” It was from Ambercrombie and FItch.  I can not believe that they would put that on a shirt.  It was just downright appalling to me that now babies are the “evil” out of it all.  What’s the world coming to?

I keep forgetting to update my blog!!  It’s been a week since I was last here but I just wanted to drop by and say hello!  Can you believe the gas prices???  Here in Louisiana we are around $3.91 so hubby and I found an Ethanol station this weekend for my FlexFuel Suburban.   It wasn’t cheap by any means but $3.45 is DEFINITELY better than $3.91 and she seems to be running fine. 

I had a conference for school all last week since I have to teach an hour of science next year.  (It’s outside of my certification.)  So I was gone for the most part and had work, homework, tests, and presentations.  YUCK!  But I did have fun even if it was stressful.
